Some Great Celebrity Advices For Couples

When we look at the typical headlines for tabloids such as Us Weekly and TMZ, we may get the impression that Hollywood is no place for a long-time couple. Indeed, there have been a lot of stories of messy breakups between high-profile couples, with the most notable recently being that of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie back in 2020. As such, people tend to assume that many couples in Hollywood simply do not make an investment to maintain a healthy and stable relationship. Of course, that is just a simplistic view of the lives of many celebrities.

For each messy breakup we see on TV and the internet, there are countless other celebrity couples who have maintained a very long and loving relationship. Given the nature of highly selective reporting on whatever is quite sensational, such reporting on breakups obscures others that live good lives. Some of them have shared their lives as a couple quite openly like John Legend and Chrissy Teigen while others prefer to keep it under the wraps. Regardless, these couples are indicative that there are those in Hollywood that make a serious investment in a healthy relationship. Some of them have even shared some advice on their stable relationship, which are listed below.

Beyoncé

As far as iconic couples of the modern era go, Queen B and Jay-Z are at the top of the pyramid, for a good reason. In an interview with GQ, she stated that her natural chemistry with her husband and genuine interactions between the two of them have made their relationship last this long.

Despite an infidelity scandal that rocked the couple back in 2017, the two still remain strong as ever. If anything, the two have added three kids into their family. Currently, they have been making an investment on taking care of their kids while working on their careers.

Jessie James Decker

“I think women sometimes stop flirting with their husbands and you can’t,” says singer Jessie James Decker. She has been married to Erick Decker for nearly a decade now and shares two children with him. According to her, a secret to their long-time relationship is just for her to give her husband a big kiss and ask about what he’s done for the day.

Ellen DeGeneres

Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi have been married for more than a decade now. They have called each other their “best friend.” Their relationship has been shaped by the fact that they initially were not able to tie the knot legally until in 2008. According to DeGeneres, she stated that them being quite understanding to one another can be credited for making their relationship last quite long.

Neil Patrick Harris

Contrary to what many people may believe, Neil Patrick Harris’ advice is not suiting up, given that his character of Barney Stinson may obscure his IRL personality. No, his advice is to be quite open and frequent about communication. This is pretty much evident with his long time being together with David Burtka, who he shares two children with. If their social media posts are any indication, the two and their kids have been living quite well over the years.

Victoria Beckham

Before the likes of Brangelina and Bey and Jay came about, David and Victoria Beckham were the supercouple of the 2000s. Even with their high-profile status and busy workload, they still managed being together for more than two decades. If anything, the two credit each other for giving a worthwhile and wholesome daily life.

Victoria, in particular, has been adamant in balancing her work and family life. “I try really, really hard. I try hardest to be the best mother,” the former Spice Girl said back in 2018 during the Forbes Women’s Summit. After the two finish their work, they pretty much spend their time along with their kids without worrying about working for a moment.

Meryl Streep

While Meryl Streep is best known for her illustrious acting career, it is impressive that the veteran actress has maintained a longtime marriage to sculptor Don Gummer, despite not a lot of people knowing about it. According to an interview with her by New Zealand Women’s Weekly, the key to her more than three decades of marriage is constant and healthy communication.

She said that the two have been quite open about discussing their problems, suggestions, and achievements, which can be credited in aiding them solving a lot of issues to a degree. In addition, the fact that Streep and Gummer have their own separate careers is a big factor in ensuring that any conflict can be mitigated.
